Air India to Launch Nonstop Mumbai-Toronto Flights From 25 October

Air India has confirmed a new nonstop route between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport, starting 25 October 2026. The seasonal winter service will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and is scheduled to run through 26 March 2027. The airline will be the only carrier flying the Mumbai-Toronto pair nonstop once the route launches, with other options currently routed through the Gulf, Europe or other Indian gateways.

Aircraft and flight time
The route will be flown with Air India's long-range Boeing 777-300ER, fitted with First Class suites, flat-bed Business Class seating and Economy Class, and the nonstop sector is expected to take around 17 hours, among the longer flights in the airline's network. That length puts it in the same ultra-long-haul category as other recent Air India additions connecting Indian cities directly to North America without a stop in Europe or the Gulf.

Why it matters for travellers
Canada is home to one of the largest Indian diaspora populations outside India, with a significant share based in and around the Greater Toronto Area, and Mumbai is one of the country's busiest outbound gateways. A direct link removes the need for a connection through hubs such as Delhi, London, Frankfurt or a Gulf city, cutting overall journey time for travellers visiting family, studying or working in Canada over the winter season covered by the new schedule.
Confirm before you book
As a newly announced seasonal route, schedules, fares and aircraft configuration can still change ahead of the October launch; readers should confirm current details directly with Air India or a booking platform before finalising travel plans.
Traveller tips
- The route is seasonal, running from 25 October 2026 to 26 March 2027 on the current schedule; check whether it will be extended into summer separately.
- Canada requires Indian citizens to hold a valid visa or eTA depending on travel history; check current requirements before booking.
- With a roughly 17-hour flight time, consider layover options via other Air India hubs if a nonstop day doesn't suit your schedule.
- As with any new route, fares and frequency can shift after launch, so it's worth comparing prices closer to your travel dates.
