IndiGo will add four additional weekly services from Prayagraj Airport from 25 October 2026, expanding connections to Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru ahead of India's festive travel season. The airline will operate extra Prayagraj-Mumbai flights on Mondays and Wednesdays, a new Tuesday service to Hyderabad and a new Friday service to Bengaluru, while discontinuing its existing Thursday Prayagraj-Bhubaneswar flight.

Why now
The added capacity is timed to rising passenger demand through Diwali, Dussehra and Chhath, among the busiest travel periods in India, when Prayagraj sees a mix of religious travel, family visits and business trips. Akasa Air has also been expanding its Prayagraj presence around the same period, though the exact schedule of those additions was not independently confirmed at the time of writing.
What it means for travellers
Prayagraj, connected by a civil enclave airport at Bamrauli around 12 kilometres from the city centre, has historically had thinner domestic connectivity than other Uttar Pradesh cities such as Lucknow or Varanasi. The new frequencies give travellers more same-day options between Prayagraj and three of India's largest metro hubs, useful both for festival travel and for the city's steady year-round pilgrim traffic to the Sangam.
Confirm before you fly
Airline schedules, particularly around festive periods, can shift closer to the date. Travellers booking Prayagraj flights for late October onward should confirm the current schedule directly with IndiGo or their booking platform before finalising other travel plans.
Traveller tips
- The new Prayagraj-Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru services begin 25 October 2026; earlier bookings on the discontinued Bhubaneswar route should be reconfirmed.
- Fares on festive-period routes tend to rise sharply closer to Diwali and Chhath; booking early is worth it if travel dates are fixed.
- Prayagraj's airport is compact by design; travellers connecting onward by road to Varanasi or Ayodhya should budget several hours for the journey.
