IndiGo has raised five domestic ancillary charges with effect from 17 September 2026, covering excess baggage, infant travel, priority boarding, unaccompanied minor service and travel certificates. Base domestic fares are unaffected; the changes apply specifically to optional add-on services on IndiGo's domestic network.
What has changed
Excess baggage now costs ₹800 per additional kilogram, up from ₹700 previously. The infant ticket charge has risen to ₹2,250 when booked in advance, or ₹3,000 if booked at the airport counter, up from ₹2,000 and ₹2,500 respectively. IndiGo's Fast Forward priority check-in and boarding service now costs ₹650, up from ₹500, and a travel certificate now costs ₹300, up from ₹200. The unaccompanied minor charge has also risen, to ₹5,999 for domestic flights.

Why it matters for travellers
These are add-on charges rather than base fare increases, but they can meaningfully raise the total cost of a booking for travellers who routinely check extra baggage, travel with an infant, or use priority boarding, particularly on family trips where several of these charges can apply at once.
Confirm before you fly
Airline ancillary fees are revised periodically and can change again with little notice. Travellers should confirm current charges directly on IndiGo's official website or at the time of booking before relying on the figures above.
Traveller tips
- Check baggage allowances and current excess baggage rates on IndiGo's website before travelling, especially for connecting or multi-leg domestic itineraries.
- Pre-booking an infant ticket online remains cheaper than paying at the airport counter under the revised charges.
- Fast Forward priority boarding is optional and worth weighing against the new ₹650 fee for travellers not pressed for time at the gate.
- These charges apply to IndiGo's domestic network; international route charges may differ and are worth checking separately with the airline.
