Casa de Uco Puts Sixteen Rooms Inside a 320-Hectare Mendoza Vineyard
In Mendoza's Uco Valley, Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort sets sixteen rooms, suites and villas inside a 320-hectare high-altitude wine estate below the Andes.

Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort sits inside Los Chacayes, a sub-region of Mendoza's Uco Valley, where a 320-hectare estate of vineyards, ponds and open plains runs up against the first folds of the Andes. The resort's steel-and-glass architecture is a deliberate contrast to the landscape around it, built low and long so that most rooms look directly onto the mountains rather than onto each other.

Sixteen keys across three types
The resort keeps its footprint deliberately small: seven standard rooms, nine suites and two stand-alone villas. The Laguna Suites, at around 450 square feet, look out over the estate's ponds through near floor-to-ceiling glass, each with a heated bathroom floor and a small furnished patio. The three Master Suites are larger again, at roughly 645 square feet, with a separate living area, two bathrooms and a more private balcony over the same water.
A working high-altitude winery
The estate's vineyards sit at altitude, planted mainly to Malbec alongside Pinot Noir and white blends, and the on-site winery has been producing wine since the early 2000s. Guests can walk the vine rows on foot or by bicycle, and tastings are built around wines made from grapes grown within sight of the tasting room rather than trucked in from elsewhere in Mendoza.

Egyptian cotton and a slow pace
Interiors keep to a restrained palette of stone, wood and glass, with Egyptian cotton linens and a private balcony or terrace in every room. There's no obvious resort circuit of activities to keep to: most days are built around a horseback ride through the estate, an asado lunch among the vines, or an unhurried dinner paired with wines made a short walk from the table.
Traveller tips
- The nearest airport is Mendoza's El Plumerillo (Governor Francisco Gabrielli International), roughly a 90-minute drive from the estate.
- Harvest season, from late February to April, is when the winery is at its busiest and most interesting to visit.
- Days in the Uco Valley can be warm but nights at this altitude turn cool fast, even in summer.
- With only sixteen keys, the resort books out well ahead during the March-April harvest and the Southern Hemisphere summer.
